Alas, after months of worry and consideration, I have had to make the sad decision to close my lovely little shop in Duleek, as of the end of last month. My apologies to those of my customers who so enjoyed dropping in for a bit of chat while they purchased the essentials for their pets.
However, do not fear! My On-Line business is still very much alive! I know (because you tell me) that you all appreciate the hands-on service that I offer. As you know, if an item is not immediately available, I will either e-mail or ring you to check whether an alternative will satisfy, or if you are prepared to wait until it comes in. It seems to be very reassuring to many people to find a web-site where there is actually a human at the other end!
And delivery is still free for orders over €79, and for customers in and around the Duleek area who phone me their orders. (I'm afraid the web-site only knows about the €79, and hasn't any geographical knowledge at all! However if you do put in an order online and you are fairly close to Duleek I will deduct the delivery charge before processing your order)
In addition, I am working on setting up a stall at various dog shows and car-boot sales. I made my debut in this activity two week-ends ago at the Fingal Dog Club's Agility Show in Kinsealy, and it seemed to me that the contestants there were very pleased at the opportunity to see my wares. (My Patterdale Terrier Sirius really enjoyed it when they allowed him to take part at the end - he even stayed in the ring, unlike many of the "real" contestants!)
I spent last week-end looking around the area for suitable venues where I might set up my stall in the future. It actually proved to be a pretty frustrating experience. According to the local Newspaper, there were supposed to be several car-boot sales on both Saturday and Sunday. We set off to find the one that was advertised as taking place in Sally Garden, Collon, Co. Louth on Saturday. Nobody in Collon seemed at all sure where Sally Garden was, but eventually we were directed to a pub in a tiny village about 5 miles away. We eventually found the pub, but it turned out that the car-boot sale had died off months ago, presumably because nobody could find it! However, the lady running the pub told us that there is one in Slane. When we drove over there, we got to speak to the organisers, and will probably give it a shot in a week or two.
I'll keep you posted on where you can find me from week to week, but if anyone has any influence with the organisers of some of the smaller dog shows, or knows about any really good markets that don't already have a stall selling pet supplies, do let me know!
In the meantime, please do keep shopping On-Line! You can depend on me to get the stuff to you as quickly as possible!
